Dunvalos Reach lack of update #inworldz

I can’t really give much of an update for Dunvalos Reach. Things are pretty much cooling off for awhile. There’s so much to deal with for RL work and family issues. But I do have a few things to talk about, and ideas for the future have still been forming.

First of all, store upgrades will be slow. For one, I don’t know when Lady Dark Shade Designs will be able to join us as a full store. Camber, the owner, lost everything to a tornado the night before last. Luckily, she and Nik and their two dogs made it out. Sounds like we’re lucky to even still have them with us.

Scary stories like this is why I demand any house we have has a basement. A few weekends ago we were tormented with flooded towns due to 10 inches of rain in 12 hours and had about 7 tornadoes circling our town. Luckily, our town didn’t have to be evacuated like many around us and no direct hits. Just a lot of damage.

But I saw pictures of those not so lucky around us. Even the basement wasn’t a sure thing in times like this. Still, won’t find me living in a second floor apartment or in a house without a basement again. Lived in tornado alley all my life and learned to respect those creatures early on. Being caught out in a tent in one and live to tell the tale helps me stay respectful.

Should you wish to help a family out directly versus going through Red Cross or another agency, feel free to visit Camber’s fundraising page. http://www.gofundme.com/v4a5wde6  She’s been a good friend of mine for nearly six years. We’re both from pre-beta days of Biobreeds.

For the rest of the stores, there’s a lot of things I want to do. Seems I don’t have this sim fully settled in. Pillows and books finally have gotten some sales this month going, and the traffic is good. There seems to be more interest in the stores than the other areas.

I may dismantle the library and merge Marion Margaret Press into Silverwood, making Silverwood larger. Set up decorative kiosks for MMP through it instead of focusing on MMP. Sadly, I’m not sure when I’ll be able to set up events on the sim for MMP.

And, honestly, I have to search deep and think of where I want to go from here. Sandie kept my heart in the publishing. I’ve always been a writer and will die one. I wrote and illustrated my first book when I was ten, and I know this is the career I’ll go to my maker with, but getting into publishing was something new that cropped up when I worked for publishers.

Publishing can be fun. The business of publishing can be un-enjoyable at times, and it was wearing me down.  It’s possible…well, I don’t want to say. Still a lot of thinking and soul searching to do. But what I do know is that I’ll always have MMP to help her family keep her legacy of words going, as was her last wish. And I’ll have that brick and mortar business again in a few years where her books will be available too.

The new Silverwood will include a memorial area to others lost also. I have more gaming friends to dedicate, Mystic’s mom, and sadly, one or more this year from my family to add. We’re waiting on doctors to tell us how long for one of our parents now.

The other store at the top of the to-do list is Dee’s Designs. I need to get this one ready by fall time, at least, with information and proper dedications. This store is to honor my mother who was diagnosed with Breast Cancer last fall and who is still involved in fighting the battle with it.

Then there’s the other designs. For the home level, the homes are going to go out for sale in the home and design store that Mystic and I still have to build product for. And I’m redoing the home level to be mostly horse themed. Multiple styles of corrals, some decor for yards, and a very special centerpiece I have in mind to build for displaying the multiple pegasus I have.

There will still be oyo sales there. Not that I’ve had any in three weeks. But then, I left the markets so there’s only the search and classifieds pointing people to our sim for them.

As for a MMP update, I don’t know what to say. Seems we’re on a bit of a hiatus for it. One artist dealing with serious health situation and in recovery. Other artist dealt with loss of two family members and a bad health thing from it. One editor dealing with health/family issues. One editor still grieving and having a hard time completing the job.

It’s possible that the grieving and recovery period may need to go on longer than we’d like. I’m giving all another week and then checking in with everyone before I go to take care of my parents for awhile. See if we can get back on track when I return and keep the current schedule we have planned. Will be sure to let everyone know.

A Dunvalos Reach Update #Inworldz

It's Easter Egg Hunt time on Dunvalos Reach sim right now. TWO levels with over thirty eggs hidden. Hints in the sign when you tp in.

Finally have the building duties settled in most of the way, and things will be slower now. Tomorrow I start a full two months of solid fiction writing for fall releases. I’m sure I’ll post some times when my public publisher avatar, Marion Margaret, will be on the sim.

The Book Emporium is partly stocked now. I have a unique line of book shelves to build for it yet, but that will be slow in coming. When I fry my brain from hours of writing and need a break.

I’ve also converted an older level of the sim into a breeding pod ground for my oyos horses. See, there’s this pesky inability to bond them, which makes specialty breeding a bit of a challenge, especially if one can’t be online constantly to make sure the right stud gets the right mare.

So I took my psychedelic marble textures and my ahnonay Myst age background to make a special breeding ground. Sim wide level. Pods and platforms for them.

Thankfully for my busy times, the auto feeder works sim wide very well.

Building updates for Dunvalos Reach stores in #Inworldz

People keep telling me that it’s okay to take time off to deal with my loss of a good friend. Well, it’s been over two months and people still telling me that. Business doesn’t work that way, and work is a good tool for healing also.

Lucky for me, I work in multiple areas and have multiple goals to achieve throughout 2015. And I work for myself, with a husband to keep things going during my slow income months. Gives me a ton of freedom.

I can keep working by switching things around. So I have.

Dunvalos Reach is part of my promotion and working location, as well as a hobby location to help deal with the mayhem of life. Setting it up is important and something I had planned for during production break in the winter. Moved that forward instead and am nearly done.

The Book Emporium is a project of my own. This store will be filled with books, items for libraries and desks, and items made with books as part of their design. It will take me a long time to fill up!

Mystic has chosen to move her store over onto this side of the parcel next to the Book Emporium. This side has sounds from the Myst games and now her store is next to the Myst inspired areas.

Camber is thinking about what to do about her Lady Dark Shade Designs store. Stay there or move to Mystic’s old spot. Will be awhile for her though, as she has some RL moving to do herself first. When she decides and I am free again, there will be a little forest on the ground where people can get fairy and animals, and maybe trees and such.

We are really making the sim a type of walk around and buy our stuff style.

Mystic and I are also going to..someday…fill up a store together. This is a store for pretty much whatever we don’t have elsewhere as a mix, varying from buildings to yard decor, to home decor, to art, to whatever. The textures are from Twisted Thorn Textures also. I chose to use this set because it’s ones that Nighty made while sitting at her mother’s bedside during her last days. I thought it fitting to sit next to Dee’s Designs, which is a store honoring my mother’s fight against Breast Cancer.

Mystic’s calling me the pillow princess now. Tempest Myst Designs main store is filled up now with pillows and rugs. Only 884 pillows. I don’t think that’s too much. I was shooting for 1000 even. *grins*

Now, the home and corral level is finished, including oyo breedables for sale, and all the buildings are in place on the ground floor. Just have to finish filling up the ground level with the planned products.

Things may slow down a bit now. We have parents in the ailing health stages to deal with. The Marion Margaret Press production season is kicking in for 2015.

Look for further notices soon on Sandie’s last book in the Cat’s Tales to come out this year. I hear a rumor that I should receive the text files for it in the near future and can set up a release date from that. This book is called In The Company of Elves.

With this and life and the day job, my progress will slow down to just the products, but still expect to see new stuff weekly on the sim. And we’re planning an Easter egg hunt!

Dark Tudor Live-In Barn New #Inworldz build

Normally I’d do a more general building update for my Inworldz living, but this house is really something I’m proud of. My favorite build so far, and I thought I was in love with the enchantment series of houses before this.  This post is going to revolve around that house.

When I first set out to use the Winsome Wanderer Tudor texture set by Nighty Goodspeed on a fourth build, I was thinking sun roof. That was not where my building process took me. Very normal for me. I’m an organic builder.

The second floor of the house is the living space. A one room open space with a second loft level. In my virtual world living, I don’t like closed spaces so I tend to not make my rooms the same as you find  them in real life.

Access to the living area is via stairs along the one side of the building.

My PC looks pretty dark to me, so I apologize if these don’t give details as well as they should. I’m almost finished with the level and will get it opened up for business soon. I just have to adjust the other 2 story dark tudor home and get its sales sign made, and the same to the enchantment serious cottages. Then it’s the little bits and pieces. Still have a few more fairies to use in builds.

Then on the ground level I’m going to put together some graphics I bought to make a Sales building using Native American designs. Need more floor space. It’s time to make another 100 pillows. *laugh*

Mystic has another level on the sim for which she’s working on some buildings for too.

#Inwordz Building update

I’m adding another level to the sim and opening up some of the ground level for more building. Houses block a lot of what’s behind them, so I chose to make a level for them that people will be able to tp to. I’ll also have sales boxes down below still for them.

I made a series of enchantment houses. I like the design and they fit easy in landscaping. May create a roof top patio add on for them too.

I’m also going through my products and getting rid of anything with poseballs. I’ve tested a few sit script kits and think I’ve settled on my favorite. Through the years, I used single sit options. I may do a few with multiple sits via a menu too. You know, now that I’m older…

I’ll admit, I was greatly disappointed this weekend. Not one soul has bothered to visit Sandie’s memorial.

But luckily, I’m a bit of a hermit and that’s okay. I’m not real sociable. My talking is through my writing.

And Sandie approved the memorial. She’s the one I truly wanted to make happy.

On The Path to Finding Myself Again

…sort of.

My friend and basically business partner for many years, Sandie, is still lingering to this life in a coma. We truly thought she’d let go quicker than this. But I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. She never gave up on me, even through the many times I tried and failed.

I find myself completely lost without her. At least in my career.

It’s funny. I’m a motivator and counselor for others in their career path, yet I find out that my own was so dependent upon one generous individual being there.  I can’t say I took her forgranted because she had been battling an unrelated life threatening condition. I was just distracted by my desire to do right by her and do the best I could for her books because I wasn’t sure if she had time for as many as she did.

I’m very, very thankful she did get through seven books before her time ran out. It was more than I hoped for in the beginning.

In my desire to do right for her, I failed to see how dependent I became on her. Still am, I guess.

Honestly, I think I would have disappeared off of the internet scene for a time: month, a few months, a few years, something.  I did not. Not right away because I wanted to help her family see this through, and make sure her books are handled the way they wanted.

Then, not planning to at all once I was told she made a last request for her books with MMP that makes me think of myself as a caretaker for her books and creations. It’s a responsibility I take seriously.

Yet, I also must caretake my own career. Find the drive for it again.

Thankfully, my other dear friend and artist Ron Leming is helping with that.

And thank God for Inworldz. Building is good for the soul and good therapy. It’s something I can enjoy there and not at that other place. Because prims don’t matter.

Sorry to keep harping on that, but so many days I see this as a life saver. I had felt badly that my game family chose another open source grid instead, with many of the same benefits, but after much thought, that’s not so bad. I can still go visit in the other place and within the actual game itself. This suits my need for anonymity to satisfy my introverted personality during those quiet moments I need.

For the part of the business that’s the press, I need to get dates going for the anthology editions and post those for writers to submit to, and set up the 2015 schedule. For the ‘day job’ part of the business, I need to set up a routine for clients to start off the new year.

Due to my inability to break free of the mind numbing shock of losing someone so close to me, I’ve had all this put on hold. (Other than taxes. That I was able to process properly, thankfully.)

Now it’s time to move forward, get the planning done, and do some work again. Time to straighten out this winding path I’m on.

#Inworldz Labor of Hope

Sandie Bergen is an author with Marion Margaret Press, which I run. We’ve known each other for ten years and I can barely count any days in which we haven’t talked during that time. Except recently. She’s been already battling a life threatening condition for the last five years, and just recently discovered she has two brain tumors and cancer. She’s still in the hospital.

My sim, Dunvalos Reach, was already named after a location in her first series, The Jada Trilogy.

Now, I’m creating areas from her second series, Cat’s Tales on the sim. My hope is this inspires Sandie to keep fighting. I hope to provide her with a walk through video of her worlds. I’ve asked both of Marion Margaret Press‘s cover artists for help on some small bits I need. As I’m clueless about video taking and there are a few more bits I don’t have access to, I’m sure I’ll ask others for help at times.

Lindren’s home. Roof is temporary. Still looking for the right kit for it.

I feel as if I’ve spent a long time in Silverwood since Cat’s Tales became an idea in Sandie’s mind.  Lindren is the head of the Silverwood Elven Enclave, so his cottage was a natural place to start. The cottage is grown from a Shirren tree, and surprisingly, her elves live in cottages, versus the fairytale style woodsy houses we think of. I avoided stone, although I think that would be allowed. Not a perfect design, but closest I could find to what I know of Lindren’s home.

Sliverwood Commons from the Cat's Tales series by Sandie Bergen.

Sliverwood Commons from the Cat’s Tales series by Sandie Bergen.

The Silverwood Commons is a big meadow clearing where the elves would gather. At special events, like weddings, a group of elves would dance in the middle, creating beautiful holographic images as they danced higher and higher. Cat and Kelwyn’s favorite tree is at one end. At the other end is going to be the fountain that Cat loves.

More to come on Silverwood as it develops. I still have a long way to go!

In the meantime, meet some new friends on Dunvalos Reach that arrived this week.
